April 9, 5:20 p.m., 5924 Morgan Ave. S.
A suspect posing as a repairman tried to enter a home. The suspect fled the scene in a red pickup and was gone when police arrived.


April 11, 2 a.m., 31st Street West and Emerson Ave.
Police arrested two young men for attempting to rob two other young men. One of the victims positively identified the suspects.


April 10, 9:15 a.m., 3240 W. Lake St.
A suspect ran out of Walgreens after stealing six large containers of liquid laundry detergent with a total value of $90. The suspect drove off in a red sedan with license plate number 317PLW, though the reporting person was unsure if the plates were from Minnesota or Wisconsin. When police ran the number, it only registered a Wisconsin vehicle: A red 1993 Geo Prizm.   


Between 8 p.m. April 7 and 8 a.m. April 8, 5236 Washburn Ave. S.
An unknown suspect stole a vehicle parked inside a garage.


April 6, between 3:15 p.m. and midnight, 4504 Vincent Ave. S.
A repairman’s company truck was broken into while he was working at a home. The passenger side window was smashed and the man’s GPS, wallet, state license and $82 in cash were missing. After checking around the neighborhood, he said no one heard or saw the break-in.     


April 10, 4 a.m., 1917 Logan Ave. S.
Police responded to a burglary call from St. Paul Parish. The reporting person had chased the suspect out after a forced entry was made. Police found the suspect nearby and the reporting person positively identified him.


April 6, 4 a.m., 2900 Colfax Ave. S.
A 31-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint. He reported the incident at a police station after it happened and declined medical treatment.


April 10, between 4 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., 3247 Lyndale Ave. S.
A suspect entered an unlocked apartment and took multiple items including a set of car keys, which were used to take a car parked outside.  


April 9, 1:10 a.m., Franklin and Harriet avenues
Two suspects robbed a 30-year-old man of $60 cash, a money clip, an iPhone, a BlackBerry, a black shoulder bag and half a bottle of Scotch whiskey. The man used a GPS to track his iPhone for a while and reported it was heading southbound on I-35W. One of the suspects was described as a white male around 20 with a medium build, standing five feet nine inches. The suspect wore a black, puffy jacket with a fur collar and carried a large silver revolver. The second suspect was described as a black male around 20, just shy of six feet with a light build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.


April 12, 2:25, 2746 Stevens Ave. S.
Two males shot at each other. One bullet grazed a bus driver, causing a minor injury.

April 12, 3:47 a.m., 2917 Lyndale Ave. S.
Two suspects broke into Galactic Pizza and stole more than $3,000 from the safe along with eight rolls of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies from the cash drawer. Surveillance footage showed the suspects taking the coins first and then heading through the kitchen toward the rear office, where the safe is kept.

Between 7 p.m. March 17 and 6 a.m. March 18, 4729 Aldrich Ave. S.

A woman who told police she was the legal foster-care provider for a tan, male boxer dog named Hank believed he was stolen. She said the dog jumped out her second-floor window while he was alone a few minutes and went missing. She said she and more than 20 other people searched for the dog, but he wasn’t found.

She made fliers and posted a notice on Craigslist and on March 22 received a message on her cell phone from a man claiming to have the dog. In the message, the man told the woman she must not want the dog, since she didn’t answer her phone, so he planned to keep it. The caller’s number was private, so she couldn’t call back. She said the caller had a Spanish accent and several witnesses told her they had recently seen a Hispanic male walking the dog on a leash. The dog was last reported at Jerry’s Towing, 615 E. Lake St. The woman was offering an undisclosed reward for Hank’s return.



March 18, 2:30-3:30 a.m., Knox Avenue South and Lagoon Avenue

Two unknown suspects assaulted and robbed a 27-year-old man of his wallet, which contained no cash. No weapons were involved. The man was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.



March 22, after midnight, 1925 Colfax Ave. S.

Four guitars were stolen from an apartment sometime after midnight. The apartment owner sad the door was not secure. He said he would give police the serial numbers from the instruments.



March 17, 3:07 a.m., 3453 Nicollet Ave. S.

Unknown suspects robbed a 31-year-old man of $100 at gunpoint. The suspects were gone by the time police arrived. No injuries were reported.

Between 3 p.m. March 21 and 6 p.m. March 22, 3044 Pleasant Ave. S.

A window of an apartment unit was broken, the apartment was ransacked and a laptop was stolen.



Between 9 p.m. March 17 and 6 p.m. March 18, 4729 Aldrich Ave. S.

A GPS, iPod and tax papers were taken from a parked vehicle and the interior was ransacked. The car was locked when the owner left it and locked when he returned.

Between 7 p.m. March 20 and 9 a.m. March 21, 4616 Colfax Ave. S.

A car was broken into and ransacked while parked overnight. The suspect took money from the glove box and an iPod connector. The victim’s daughter’s car, parked nearby, was also gone through.



March 17, 9:30 p.m., 2000 Nicollet Ave. S.

A 26-year-old man’s girlfriend’s sister’s boyfriend hit him in the head with a club. The suspect was gone when police arrived. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Between 11:30 p.m. March 18 and 9:20 a.m. March 19, 2900 Nicollet Ave. S.

An unknown suspect attempted to pry open the lobby door of Nicollet Self Service Car Wash to get to the change machines inside.
The suspect turned the building’s interior security cameras toward the ceiling and cut two padlocks to an air freshener vending machine. The suspect was unable to break through the steel door leading to the lobby.  

March 20, 9:45 p.m., Midtown Greenway and Pillsbury Avenue South

A 23-year-old man was walking home when an unknown suspect walked up to him pointing a small, black handgun. The suspect demanded money, but the victim ran. He declined medical treatment.

Between 8 p.m. March 20 and 10 a.m. March 21, 2620 Nicollet Ave. S.

An unknown suspect threw a large rock through the front window of Tram Hair Styling, pried open the cash register drawer and took $50. No physical evidence was found.



Between 10 p.m. March 20 and 1 p.m. March 21, 5535 Grand Ave. S.

A black leather computer case and black leather purse were stolen from a home while the resident was asleep. The resident told police she left the back door unlocked because she planned to let out her dog, but she fell asleep.
