A man in a black pickup tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl April 12 in the Kenny neighborhood, according to a police alert sent to community members the following day.
The girl was walking home near 56th Street and Dupont Avenue when the truck pulled up and the man yelled at her to come over. He then attempted to grab her arm through a partially open driver’s side door and pull her into the truck. The girl was able to break free after screaming and punching and scratching the man. She ran home and the suspect fled eastbound on 56th St. W.
The vehicle was described as a shiny black, newer model pickup. The license plate was covered in dirt. The driver was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s with a darker complexion and medium build. He was taller than 5 feet 7 inches, unshaven and had long, black hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a white T-shirt and might have scratches on his arms from the victim.
The girl thinks she saw the same pickup in the area on April 8. No similar incidents were reported.
