CARAG

New agreement with Uptown Market approved

The CARAG neighborhood renewed its memorandum of understanding the Uptown Market in February.

The neighborhood has served as fiscal agent for the Uptown Market since it held its first four monthly events last spring and summer. The market, held on West 29th Street between Dupont and Lyndale avenues, features locally grown produce, arts and crafts vendors, music and prepared foods.

CARAG Vice President Brendan Jordan, who also serves on the Uptown Market Board of Directors, said the market would expand this summer from four monthly events to 15 events held weekly from June to September.

CARAG, which has oversight of the market’s board, also voted to elect current board members to a new two-year term.

EAST ISLES

EIRA to hold annual neighborhood meeting

East Isles Residents Association [EIRA] will elect members to its Board of Directors at the neighborhood’s annual meeting 7 p.m. April 6 at Grace-Trinity Community Church, 1430 W. 28th St.

All 11 board members are elected to one-year terms. They may serve up to three consecutive terms before they must step off the board for at least one year, but that rule will be put to a vote at the annual meeting.

Neighborhood residents will vote on a EIRA by-laws change that, if approved, would extend the number of consecutive terms a board member may serve to four.

EIRA Board of Directors President Nancy Johnston said eight members planned to seek re-election in April, leaving three seats completely open for the election. All members serve at-large.
