ARMATAGE

Jan. 13, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., 6120 Thomas Ave. S.
While the homeowner was at work, an unknown suspect kicked in a side door, went upstairs and took jewelry from a jewelry box. Police took several small drawers from the box to be inventoried and checked for fingerprints.

Between 5 p.m. Jan. 14 and 2 p.m. Jan. 15, 6049 Newton Ave. S.
A car was stolen from a garage that the owner thinks was left open. The car was stolen with the keys, which were in the ashtray.

EAST ISLES

Jan. 16, from 6 p.m.–6:30 p.m., 26th St. W. and East Lake of the Isles Parkway
A woman parked her car near the lake while she went for a run and returned to find the front passenger window smashed and a bag gone from the front seat.

FULTON

Jan. 15, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., 5104 Abbott Ave. S.
A man left his house around 8 a.m. and returned at 4 p.m. to find his back door broken and a laptop and $60 missing. No neighbors in the area reported seeing anything.

LINDEN HILLS

Jan. 13, 3 p.m., 4351 France Ave. S.
Three suspects took several bottles of alcohol from France 44 Wine & Spirits without paying and left in a red and white Chevy. A St. Louis Park police squad stopped the car at Lake Street and Thomas Avenue and an officer saw four unopened alcohol bottles in plain view. Three of the bottles belonged to the business and were returned. Two suspects were cited for theft.

LYNDALE

+ Jan. 18, 7:10 p.m., 3220 Blaisdell Ave. S.
Multiple suspects attempted to rob a 38-year-old man with a baseball bat. The suspects demanded money and swung the bat twice at the man’s head, but he ducked and was not injured. He fought the suspects off until they gave up and fled on foot. The suspects were gone when police arrived.

STEVENS SQUARE

+ Jan. 17, 12 a.m., 1926 3rd Ave. S.
Officers were dispatched to the area on a shots-fired call and arrested a 23-year-old man for assault. A shooting victim was admitted to Hennepin County Medical Center five hours later, but was uncooperative with police.

TANGLETOWN

Jan. 12, 10 40 p.m., 4628 Grand Ave. S.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a theft in progress and arrived at the scene to find a witness who had used a baseball bat to confront a suspect who ripped the cover off a parked car’s steering column with a large screwdriver. The car had been unlocked and the screwdriver was left at the scene.

WHITTIER

Jan. 13, 10:30 a.m., 10 W. Lake St.
Police were dispatched to a call that Kmart employees were holding a theft suspect. Upon their arrival, a witness said he saw a woman take a pink Disney television and place it in an empty stroller. She then took two sweatshirts and placed them over the television. A man who was with her added a Sony Blu-ray player to the stroller and pushed it past all the cash registers before he was stopped. Both the man and woman were cited for theft and released.

+ Jan. 16, 10 p.m., 22nd St. E. and Nicollet Ave. S.
Four suspects assaulted a 48-year-old man while he was waiting for a bus and fled when the bus arrived. The man, bleeding from his mouth, got on the bus and arrived at another person’s home about 40 minutes later. He told the other person about the attack, but did not report it to police. When he woke up the next morning, his jaw was severely swollen and he could not speak, so the person he was with called police and reported the incident. Officers observed a swollen left cheek and called an ambulance, which took the man to North Memorial Hospital for treatment. Suspect descriptions were vague.  

+ Jan. 24, 8:30 p.m., 2nd Ave. S. and 26th St. E.
A 59-year-old man was robbed of a $20 bill at gunpoint.

CARAG

Between 2:30 p.m. Dec. 24 and 12:15 p.m. Dec. 26, 3209 Bryant Ave. S.
A young woman was away from her apartment and returned to find her front window open and the screen cut. She also found her rear door unlocked. A TV and several DVDs were missing. A neighbor said she had found the woman’s cat outside and put it back in the apartment.

KINGFIELD

Between Dec. 25 and Dec. 27, 4140 Grand Ave. S.
Someone brushed snow off a vehicle’s windshield to see inside, then smashed the passenger-side window, took a CD case from the seat and a checkbook from the glove box.

LOWRY HILL

Between 1 p.m. Dec. 25 and 9 a.m. Dec. 27, 1770 Hennepin Ave. S.
Occupants of an apartment returned from a couple days away to find three laptops, a Playstation 2, a computer bag and a bag of clothes gone. Suspects removed a window screen to enter the apartment and left through a door.

LOWRY HILL EAST

Dec. 26, 6 p.m., Franklin and Lyndale avenues
A 23-year-old man was on a Metro Transit bus traveling north when someone grabbed his cell phone and fled off the bus. The man chased the suspect, but couldn’t catch him.

LYNDALE

Between 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and 11 a.m. Dec. 25
An unknown suspect entered City Coin Laundry, which is open 24-hours, broke three padlocks on the change machine and took two coin hoppers.

+ Dec. 25, 2:20 a.m., 3453 Nicollet Ave. S.
A 33-year-old man punched a police sergeant in the head several times and fought with other officers. He was arrested and booked for fourth-degree assault. A surveillance video captured the incident.

WHITTIER

+ Dec. 24, 3:30 p.m., 28th St. W. and Pillsbury Ave. S.
A 20-year-old man was in a physical fight with one suspect when two others jumped him and stole his wallet. The man fled the scene and refused medical treatment for a swollen and bruised cheek and left eye.

Dec. 24, 4:15 p.m., 2001 Nicollet Ave. S.
Officers were dispatched to CVS/Pharmacy on a theft call. Employees were holding the suspect. The reporting person said the suspect tried to steal several electric toothbrushes and accessories with a total value of nearly $200.  

+ Dec. 24, 7:15 p.m., Grand Ave. S. and Lake St.
A 21-year-old woman was walking along the sidewalk when an unknown suspect came from behind her, ripped the purse from her shoulder and fled through nearby yards. A police canine unit called to the scene was unable to track the suspect.

+ Dec. 25, 10:30 p.m., Lake St. W. and Pillsbury Ave. S.
Unknown suspects pistol-whipped and robbed a 22-year-old man. The man sustained minor injuries and was sent to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. A suspect vehicle was impounded and held for the robbery unit.

+ Dec. 27, 10:15 p.m., Midtown Greenway and Pillsbury Ave. S.
Two unknown suspects assaulted and robbed a 26-year-old man, who was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

Dec. 28, 10 a.m., 2100 Blaisdell Ave. S.
An officer spotted a suspicious vehicle that turned out to be involved in a robbery of Franklin National Bank. Two men, ages 30 and 38, were taken into custody. The incident is under investigation.
