CARAG
Between 11:21 p.m. Oct. 3 and 12:30 a.m. Oct. 4, 3120 Dupont Ave. S.
A woman called police to report that a suspicious vehicle had been parked at 3120 Dupont Ave. for a couple days. The woman said a man parked there and told her he would return with a tow. He never came back. An officer searched the license plate information and discovered that the car was wanted in a Minneapolis hit and run case. The officer had the car towed to the Minneapolis impound lot.
CEDAR-ISLES-DEAN
+ Oct. 3, 9:19 a.m., 3800 Lake St. W.
A 39-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint. The unknown suspect fled on foot. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
EAST ISLES
Oct. 4, between 8:54 p.m. and 9 p.m., 2650 Hennepin Ave. S.
While eating inside a restaurant, a 34-year-old man noticed a male suspect break the driver’s side window out of his car, which was in the parking lot. He ran out to confront the suspect, who had taken the GPS computer from the car. The suspect said he was just trying to take care of his children and that he was sorry. He dropped the computer on the ground before fleeing westbound on a black mountain bike.
KINGFIELD
Between 4:16 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 1:13 p.m. on Oct. 4, 4206 Grand Ave. S.
A burglar pried open the service door of an unattached garage and stole two auto tires. There is no suspect information and no collectable evidence was found at the scene.
Between 9 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 4, 4505 Garfield Ave. S.
A burglar pried open the door latch of a service door on an unattached garage. The interior of the unlocked vehicle inside the garage was ransacked, but nothing was stolen from the vehicle. There were some items taken from inside the garage. The burglar left behind a bicycle.
LYNDALE
Oct. 1, between 6:58 p.m. to 9:33 p.m., 10 32 W. St.
A 54-year old MTC bus driver reported that his backpack had been stolen during his route on the northbound 17 line. He had work tools, a ticket punch, prescription eyewear and books inside his backpack.
WEST CALHOUN
Between 10 p.m. Oct. 2 and 2:45 a.m. Oct. 3, 3810 W. 31 St.
A 52-year-old woman found the front passenger window of her car smashed. The glove box and center console had been rifled through but nothing was taken. The car was parked in a secured underground parking area of the apartment building. Police found no evidence that force was used on the secure doors to gain entry to the area.
Between 10 p.m. Oct. 2 and 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 3, 3810 W. 31 St.
Unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger window of a 25-year old woman’s car, which was parked in the secure underground parking area of her apartment building. Items were stolen from the dash console. Police found no evidence that force was used on the secured doors of the parking area. There is no suspect information.
WHITTIER
Oct. 3, between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., 17 E. 24 St.
A 24-year old woman let a 20-year-old man that she knew stay with her for the evening in her apartment. When she woke up in the morning, she discovered he had stolen her 42-inch television, two cell phones, a Wii entertainment system, a digital camera and a pack of cigarettes.
Oct. 4, between 10 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., 2515 Nicollet Ave. S.
After leaving work, a 39-year-old woman found that her car had been broken into and items stolen. The victim talked to a man on the other side of the street who had witnessed the theft. He said he saw another man take items out of her car but did not want to get involved. He would not give the woman his name or number.
+ Oct. 5, 10:46 p.m., intersection of 24th and Lyndale
A 30-year-old man was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after stabbing a 41-year-old man outside Leaning Tower of Pizza. Several witnesses were at the scene. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was reported to be in stable condition.
