LYNNHURST – Fire broke out early Monday afternoon in a townhome complex at the corner of 50th Street and Sheridan Avenue.
Crews from Minneapolis and Richfield put the blaze out in about an hour, said Capt. Frank Kurth of Minneapolis Fire Station 28, which is only a few blocks west of the fire site on 50th. Two of the five townhomes were destroyed and the other three sustained smoke damage, Kurth said.
No injuries were reported. One resident was home at the time of the fire, but managed to make it out safely, Kurth said.
He said he and other firefighters were on another call on the west side of Lake Harriet when the fire was reported. The flames were visible across the lake, he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
