WINDOM — A kindergarten student at Windom Spanish Dual Immersion and Open School was struck by a school bus at about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis Public Schools reported.
There was no immediate information on the 5-year-old boy’s condition or the nature of his injuries.
According to the district: At about 6:45 a.m. the boy and his mother boarded a charter school bus near the intersection of 32nd Street and Elliot Avenue South. When they realized it was the wrong bus, they got off. The boy slipped on ice and was struck by the bus.
District support staff were sent to Windom to help students and staff members. Windom Principal Tami VanOverbeke went to Hennepin County Medical Center to be with the boy’s family, the district reported.
