+ Jan. 17, 12:43 a.m.

3500 block of Bryant Avenue South

A 26-year-old man said a suspect hit him in the head with a gun in front of his apartment and took $10 and his cell phone.


Between Jan. 14, 2 p.m. and
Jan. 15, 10:15 a.m., 3800 block of Bryant Avenue South

The door of an apartment building’s laundry room was pried open and the casing of a metal coin box was peeled back. Quarters were stolen.


Jan. 14, between midnight
and 4:30 a.m.

The patio door of new Thai restaurant Roat Osha was pried open and a plasma TV was stolen. The burglars left through the same door.  


Corner of 44th Street & Chowen Avenue, 3 a.m.

Three young males approached a man who was attempting to enter his home. They stole his wallet and assaulted him. The victim was unable to give a clear description of the suspects.


+ Jan. 13, 8:25 p.m.

Multiple suspects entered a home occupied by multiple young men. One of the suspects wrapped one of the victims in tape and demanded cash. On of the suspects also shot a hole in the wall above one of the victims. Police recovered a bullet casing. The suspects fled with an unspecified loss.  

Jan. 18, 6:40 p.m.

Aldrich Avenue South and
Franklin Avenue West

A 23-year-old woman was walking home on Franklin Avenue from the bus stop when two unknown males stole her purse.


Jan. 15, between 5:15 a.m.
and 6:15 p.m. 2600 block of Blaisdell Avenue South

A 26-year-old man went to work and returned to find his apartment door ajar. Two TVs, a computer and a stereo were missing. It appeared as though the suspect also forced one of the apartment’s windows open.

Jan. 19, 1:40 a.m., 2700 block
of Blaisdell Avenue South

A 28-year-old man was standing outside when a suspect asked to use his cell phone to call a taxi. The suspect used the phone and refused to return it. The suspect then held a knife to the man’s chest and demanded money. The man gave the suspect an unspecified amount of money.

The suspect fled on foot and the man followed him in a car until losing sight of the robber in an alley at 31st Street and Chicago Avenue South.

The suspect was described as a 28- to 30-year-old clean-shaven Hispanic male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a heavy build, short black hair and an unknown tattoo on his right hand.

2500 block of Harriet Avenue South

Officers responding to a robbery of a business found a cab driver who was robbed at gunpoint. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

Dec. 23
5600 Block of Thomas Avenue South
An 89-year-old woman got a call from someone pretending to be her cousin. The caller, reportedly a female with a similar voice as the cousin, said she was in Canada shopping with girlfriends and had spent more than she was supposed to. The caller asked for $3,500 to pay a penalty fee to cross the border with her purchased items. The victim wired the money, only to find out later that her cousin was not in Canada. The money was picked up before she realized she had been swindled.

Corner of Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street
An unknown suspect reportedly stole a 40-year-old man’s wallet from his coat while he was eating at an Uptown restaurant. When the man contacted his credit card company, he found that his card had been used for a $308 purchase at a Target store in Edina. 

East Harriet
Dec. 27 and 28, between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Fremont Avenue
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked front porch and broke a window leading to an extra bedroom while the homeowner was sleeping. The suspect then unlocked the window, but fled for unknown reasons before entering the room. 

East Isles
Dec. 25 and 26 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.  
Corner of Euclid Place and West 26th Street
A 48-year-old man went outside to get the morning newspaper and found that Santa and Mrs. Claus had been stolen from the front steps. The thief left a trail of one extension cord by the street, which was recovered. Another cord and a timer were stolen. 

Dec. 27, 5:30 p.m.
The Mall
A 34-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint. He reported a loss of $575 and a relative’s vehicle.

Dec. 26, 10 p.m.
Corner of 1st Avenue South and 33rd Street
A 19-year-old woman was walking to a bus stop from her boyfriend’s home when an unknown suspect offered to walk with her to make sure she got there safely. As the woman approached the stop, the suspect pushed her to the ground, took her wallet and fled. Police searched the area, but couldn’t find anyone. The woman was not injured.

Dec. 27, 6:15 a.m.
4200 block of Grand Avenue South
A 43-year-old woman saw two suspects remove several solar-powered Christmas lights from her front yard.

Dec. 27, 9 p.m.
3500 block of Nicollet Avenue South
A truck was dropped off at a U-Haul station after 9 p.m. An unknown man who said he was security told the driver he would take care of the vehicle and it could be paid for the next morning. An unknown suspect was seen driving the truck out of the lot later that night. Police are unsure whether the suspect is the same man who claimed to be a security guard.

Lowry Hill East
Dec. 24, between midnight and 8:30 a.m.
1200 block of Lake Street West
A 23-year-old woman returned to her vehicle, parked in an underground garage, to find that the driver’s side window was broken and several wrapped Christmas gifts were stolen. The gifts were miscellaneous toys.

Dec. 29, 4:40 p.m.-4:50 p.m.
2100 block of Lyndale Avenue South
A Wedge Community Co-op employee placed a 34-year-old man under citizen’s arrest for stealing meat. The man was cited and released. 

Dec. 25, 11:20 p.m.
Near Lyndale Avenue and 31st
A 21-year-old man waved down officers after being robbed in the mouth of a nearby alley. He pointed out where the suspects fled, and while detailing the incident, other officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area. The man identified a juvenile and a young man in the vehicle as the people who robbed him. The suspects were arrested. 

Dec. 23, 10:30 a.m.
Corner of Nicollet and Franklin avenues
An officer responded to an assault in progress at the CVS pharmacy. Employees said two suspects stole some items from the store and one pushed the manager when confronted. The suspect who allegedly pushed the manager was found, identified and issued a trespass from the store. The other suspect was gone when the officer arrived. About $75 worth of merchandise was not recovered.

Dec. 29, 7:45 p.m.
2600 Nicollet Avenue South
Multiple suspects demanded a 24-year-old man’s wallet and threatened to “just start shooting.” The man gave up his wallet and the suspects ran off. The man was not hurt.

Between Dec. 24 and 29
Near Harriet Avenue and 61st Street
Unknown suspects broke open a metal lock box used for filing invoices that was mounted to the outside of the business. They also broke the glass on an east-facing door and rummaged through the office. No loss was reported.
