Cross-country ski race raising money for HCMC

The second annual "Preseason Physical" cross-country ski event — a benefit for Hennepin County Medical Center — will be held Dec. 13 at Theodore Wirth Park.

The event will raise money for HCMC’s research into health disparities and resuscitation in the Emergency Department.

"Last year’s event was a huge success," said Dr. Jim Miner, a HCMC emergency physician and cross-country skier, in a prepared statement. "We had a great turnout and lots of support for the important research being conducted at HCMC."

The 10K freestyle race starts at 9 and is followed by a 2K tour and 1K kids’ race at 10 a.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m. in the park’s chalet at 1339 Theodore Wirth Parkway.

The race is sponsored by HCMC’s Emergency Medicine Department and the Minneapolis Medical Foundation.
