Schools welcome Principals for a Day

Minneapolis Public Schools will welcome more than 30 community members into schools Tuesday for the annual Principal for a Day event.

Principal for a Day is a chance for local leaders in business, government and community organizations to shadow a Minneapolis principal and learn about the work that goes into leading a school. Participants also have opportunities to visit classrooms, read with students and meet with school staff and families.

Seven Southwest-area schools were prepared to welcome Principals for a Day, including Armatage, Bryn Mawr, Kenwood, Lake Harriet and Lyndale community schools.

Council Member Ralph Remington (10th Ward) was scheduled to shadow Southwest High School Principal Bill Smith along with Mary Hartnett of the Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans. Shadowing Washburn High School Principal Carol Markham-Cousins will be Mayor R. T. Rybak and parent leader Julie Ristau.
