Hockey season has arrived, and the Southwest Hockey Association is welcoming new players Saturday during Mite Day at Parade Stadium, 400 Kenwood Parkway.
Mite Day is a chance for the parents of boys and girls aged 4–8 to sign up for the Mite and Mighty Mite youth hockey teams.
The Southwest Hockey Association aims to sign up 100 new players this season. To help the association achieve that goal, donors have set aside 25 sets of hockey equipment for Mite families that require financial assistance.
Events Saturday include an open skate from 2:30–3:30 p.m. at the Parade North ice rink and an equipment swap for trading used hockey gear. There will also be refreshments and a raffle for Minnesota Wild hockey tickets.
