Art Buddies seeking creative professionals

Volunteers needed for after-school art program

WHITTIER — The Art Buddies program is seeking artists and creative professionals from the fields of advertising, design and architecture to work with low-income students this fall.

Art Buddies pairs elementary-age students with artistically inclined adult volunteers who inspire the youngsters to think creatively. Art Buddies also exposes students to professionals who use art and imagination in the workplace.

Art Buddies was an outgrowth of Creatives for Causes, a nonprofit founded by veteran art director and designer Sue Crolick. The program partnered with Whittier International Elementary School in 1998 and now offers several sessions a year in the adjacent Whittier Park Building, 425 W. 26th St.

Art Buddies is currently seeking volunteers for the fall session, which runs seven Thursday afternoons from Oct. 23–Dec. 11. Those interested in volunteering can find more information and apply online (www.artbuddies.org/volunteer.asp).

Applications are due by Oct. 2.
