Rybak declares Electric Fetus Day

WHITTIER — Minneapolis music fans, this Friday your lucky day.

Mayor R.T. Rybak declared June 13 Electric Fetus Day in honor of the landmark Whittier record store’s 40th anniversary. The store was founded on the West Bank in 1968, and is celebrating four decades with a week of sales and in-store performances.

Local hip-hop stars Atmosphere and Brother Ali kick off a week of festivities with an in-store performance 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Twin Cities folkie Haley Bonar plays 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Friday is also the day when the Electric Fetus anniversary concert takes over First Avenue and the adjoining 7th Street Entry. For a full listing of promotions and events, visit the store’s website at www.electricfetus.com.
