All southbound I-35W lanes will close from Interstate 94 to Highway 62 this weekend.
The closure is taking place for utility work, including work on the storm sewers near 60th Street. Northbound 35W and Highway 62 will remain open throughout the weekend.
Southbound 35W will close starting at 10 p.m. Friday, June 27 and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 30.
Motorists traveling from the north are advised to take I-394, Highway 100 and I-494 around the closure.
The $288 million Crosstown project is scheduled to be completed in December 2010. The project is designed to limit weaving between lanes and crash rates. Contractors are adding a lane on 35W between Highway 62 and 46th Street, adding a high occupancy vehicle lane between 46th Street and I-494, and adding capacity on part of Highway 62.
Crosstown staff will be available to answer questions about the project at the Kingfield Farmers’ Market on Sunday, July 13 at 4310 Nicollet Ave. S. from 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
