ECCO — Barbette is preparing for une grande fête Sunday when the Uptown restaurant hosts its annual Bastille Day block party 4–10 p.m. on Irving Avenue in the ECCO neighborhood.
This year’s lineup includes live and local music from Faux Jean, Romantica and others, as well as a hula-hoop contest, BMX and skateboarding demonstrations and roller derby.
The event is free, but some proceeds from food, drink and art sales will benefit the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the local nonprofit that organizes an annual summer theater festival.
This year’s block party menu will include locally produced and organic foods. There will also be a flea market selling work by local artists.
Barbette, 1600 W. Lake St., has partnered with Eureka Recycling in an effort to make the block party a “zero waste event” by reusing, recycling or composting all trash.
The after party at Bryant Lake Bowl, 810 W. Lake St., will feature music from Brooklyn duo Kaiser Cartel and Romantica. Doors to the cabaret theater open at 10 p.m. Admission is $10.
