Minneapolis schools launches ‘Cultural Connections’ show

Minneapolis school district news will hit the airwaves in Spanish, Somali and Hmong next week as part of a new cable television show called “Cultural Connections.”

The program is part of a continuing effort to reach out to non-English speaking families.

Cultural Connections will run on Cable Channel 15 from April 14–28. The episodes will highlight programs and initiatives in the school district, such as the district’s strategic plan and its attendance policy. The first episode will cover the upcoming MCA-II exams, and explain how parents can help prepare students for the tests.

The following is the schedule for the April 14–28 shows.

Monday, Thursday and Friday
Spanish – 7 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.
Somali – 7:10 a.m. and 11:40 p.m.
Hmong – 7:20 a.m. and 11:50 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Spanish – 2:30 p.m.
Somali – 2:40 p.m.
Hmong –  2:50 p.m.
