HENNEPIN & LAKE

Outdoor clothing retailer The North Face opened March 21 at 3008 Hennepin Ave. S.

The newly constructed store is the company’s only one in Minnesota. The nearest North Face stores are in Madison and Chicago. Other retailers carry North Face products, but stand-alone stores are rare throughout the U.S.

The company’s Uptown location carries a more extensive line of North Face products than other retailers in the state, managers said. Outdoor gear and apparel is available for every season.

The North Face building replaced a UPS store and restaurant Tibet’s Corner.

Store hours are 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. For more information call 821-1910 or visit thenorthface.com.

EMERSON & LAKE

Restaurateur Hector Ruiz opened his third Southwest Latin restaurant, Indio Mexican Cuisine, in late March at 1221 W. Lake St.

The new restaurant follows Ruiz’s Spanish Caribbean bistro El Meson at 3450 Lyndale Ave. and his Latin fusion restaurant Café Ena at 4601 Grand Ave.

Indio Mexican Cuisine, which is in the former Pizza Nea space, features authentic Mexican dishes.

During its first couple weeks of operation, the restaurant did not have hours established, but opened around 4 p.m. each day. More structured hours were in the works as of press time, as was a website for the restaurant.

Indio Mexican Cuisine can be reached at 821-9451.
