Student performers kick off Viva City festival

Choir and dance students will perform March 17 at Orchestra Hall to kick off the annual Viva City Arts Festival produced by Minneapolis Public Schools.

Now in its 13th year, the festival will include more than 400 Minneapolis students in the visual and performing arts. Student poets will also participate for the first time this year.
More than 250 choir members and 70 dancers at all grade levels perform beginning at 6 p.m. March 17 at Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Ave.

The visual arts portion of the festival is held at the Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall. Student-produced paintings, prints, sculpture and other visual arts, as well as poetry, are on display April 5–21, with an exhibition opening scheduled for April 10.

Admission to all events is free.
