Minneapolis police shot a woman who was approaching them with a knife at in an apartment at 305 W. Franklin Ave. around 1 a.m. today.
According to a statement from the Police Department, officers were responding to a 911 call and arrived at the unit to discover the woman brandishing a knife. She refused to drop the weapon, so the officers attempted to subdue her using a taser gun. The effort failed, and the woman approached, so “they were forced to fire at her,” the report said.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. She sustained non-life threatening injuries to her lower torso, according to a Police Department news release.
The officers involved have been placed on standard administrative leave while the situation is investigated.
