Martin Luther King Peace Walk cancelled

The Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Walk that was scheduled to take place today from 6-7:30 p.m.  has been canceled due to the cold weather. Instead, the award ceremony, gospel music and spoken word presentation that were set to happen afterward will begin at 6 p.m. at Martin Luther King Park at 4055 Nicollet Ave. S.

The silent candlelit walk would’ve taken participants from Central Green Gym at 3400 4th Ave. S. to Martin Luther King Park. With temperatures approaching negative numbers, the Minneapolis Park & Recreation board, which is sponsoring the event, decided to skip the outdoor portion.
