Southwest native performs with historic a cappella group

EAST ISLES — East Isles native and Yale University student Patrick McCarthy sings with the Yale Spizzwinks(?) Sunday at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Founded at Yale in 1914, the 16-member ensemble bills itself as the oldest underclassman a cappella singing group in the country. The St. Paul performance is part of a four-stop Minnesota tour.

McCarthy graduated from Breck School in 2004.

Yes, the question mark in parentheses is a part of the group’s name. To find out why, visit www.yale.edu/spizzwinks/.

The performance is 2 p.m. Sunday in Sundin Music Hall at Hamline University. Tickets are $20 for the general public, $10 for seniors and $7 for students.
