Section of Minnehaha Parkway closed through today

Minnehaha Parkway is closed at Interstate 35W until 7 p.m. today for bridge pier construction.

Pedestrian and bike paths will not be accessible during the closure.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is removing the bridge pier of southbound I-35W above Minnehaha Parkway as part of the I-35W/Hwy. 62 Crosstown reconstruction project. Detour routes are posted, and vehicles can cross I-35W at 42nd Street, 46th Street, Diamond Lake Road and 60th Street.

The bridge pier removal will not impact southbound traffic on I-35W because traffic is temporarily rerouted onto northbound lanes from 46th Street to 60th Street.

An additional eight-week closure of Minnehaha Parkway for bridge pier construction is tentatively scheduled for the end of January.
