Police looking for suspects in attack on two women

Two women suffered head injuries after a man hit them with a gun as they walked home from a bar near Lyndale Avenue and Lake Street.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Oct. 9, police responded to a call on the 2800 block of Pleasant Avenue South and met two women who said they had been attacked. The women said they were walking home from the Country Bar, 3006 Lyndale Ave. S., when a man began walking with them and, without being provoked, hit one of the women in the head several times with a gun. He also hit the second woman in the head as well.

The women were transported by Hennepin County Medical Center with minor to moderate head wounds. The case is under investigation. Witnesses reported seeing two black male suspects estimated to be about 25-35 years old and about 5-foot-8 inches to 5-foot-10 inches in height. One of the men was wearing a white skullcap.

Police offer these safety tips to residents:

— Avoid walking after dark; if you must walk, do so in groups

— Use the safest, most direct route

— Keep to well-lit streets

— Be alert to your surroundings and look confident and purposeful

— Look both ways before exiting a building

— If you feel uneasy because of someone, cross the street or g to a location with more people

— Pay attention to detail and make mental notes about suspicious people, activity and vehicles

— Carry a cell phone to be able to call 911

— Utilize screech alarms or other personal safety devices
