Common Roots Caf raises money for flooded farmers

A Sept. 8 event at the Common Roots Cafe raised more than $2,800 dollars for flooded farmers.

Those who attended the fundraiser were able to taste fair-trade wines and try their luck in a vegetable raffle, according to the café’s website. Common Roots was one of several Twin Cities-area restaurants that donated a share of their Sept. 8 evening profits to flood relief organizations. The cafe will be donating a total of $2,808.77 to the

Sow the Seeds Fund, a local fund that benefits Minnesota and Wisconsin sustainable farms.

Common Roots, located at 2558 Lyndale Ave. S., makes frequent menu changes to accommodate local and fair-trade ingredients. More information can be found at To donate to the Sow the Seeds Fund, visit
