MnDOT lays out project requirements to potential bridge builders

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has laid out its project requirements for a new I-35W bridge to the five groups that will be submitting construction proposals to the state.

The five teams consist of paired design and construction companies: Ames/Lunda, C.S. McCrossan, Flatiron Constructors, Inc. and Johnson Bros., KTM Constructors (JV of Kiewitt/Traylor Bros/Massman) and Walsh Construction/American Bridge.

The teams have until Sept. 10 to submit technical proposals. The project will be awarded by the end of September.

Public open houses to solicit comment on the design and construction process are scheduled as follows:

•Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the McNamara Alumni Center on the (east bank) campus of the University of Minnesota from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. The address is 200 Oak St., S.E. Minneapolis. The open house will be held in AI Johnson Room.

•Thursday, Aug. 30 at the Humphrey Institute Atrium (west bank) from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. The open house will be held in the Atrium. The address is 301 19th Ave. S., Minneapolis

•Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the IDS Center and the open house will be held in the Crystal Court from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The address is 80 South 8th St., Minneapolis
