The Uptown Association promoted its August art fair last month with a Hollywood-style premier outside Calhoun Square at Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street.
Maude Lovelle, new executive director of the association, made her first major public appearance at the event and the art fair’s featured artist, John Petrey, flew in from Florida to unveil a commemorative poster of his work at the premier. Petrey creates classic, television-housewife-inspired dresses out of alternative materials such as copper, wood or playing cards.
His work and that of more than 300 other artists from throughout the country will be on display at the 44th annual Uptown Art Fair, scheduled to take place Aug. 3-5 at Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street. For more information, visit www.uptownminneapolis.com.
