Editor’s note: Alleged crimes against persons (assault, rape, murder, etc.) will feature the + symbol. Note, this compilation of crime reports provides highlights of area criminal activity. It’s not intended to be a comprehensive overview of Southwest crime.

Armatage
+ June 15, 5 p.m., W. 55th St. and Washburn Ave.
An unidentified suspect allegedly robbed an 18-year-old woman. The victim had been walking down an alley when the suspect approached and demanded she hand over her purse. The victim complied. Officers searched the area for the suspect but could not find the person.

CARAG
+ June 14, 9:18 p.m., 3000 block of Aldrich Ave.
Officers arrested three suspects, a 20-year-old man and two juvenile males, for allegedly robbing and assaulting a 62-year-old man. The suspects are believed to have punched the victim several times in the face, resulting in a laceration to his face and a possible broken nose. The victim positively identified the three suspects while being treated for his injuries inside an ambulance.

+ June 15, 2:55 a.m., W. 32nd St. and Girard Ave.
Unknown suspect(s) robbed and assaulted a 21-year-old man. The victim sustained unidentified injuries when the suspect(s) attacked him with a bottle. The victim needed to be transported to Methodist Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

June 17, 2:34 a.m., W. 33rd St. and Fremont Ave.
Officers on patrol observed a 65-year-old man rummaging around inside a parked vehicle and then entered a different vehicle and drove off. The officers stopped the latter vehicle and, when they approached, could see a bag of suspected narcotics on the front passenger seat in plain view. Officers arrested the suspect.

Kingfield
Between June 15, 2 p.m., and June 16, 9 a.m., 3600 block of Garfield Ave.
An unknown suspect(s) burglarized the residence of a 47-year-old man and a 44-year-old man. The suspect(s) entered the residence by cutting a rear window screen and opening the window. Once inside, the suspect(s) searched through several drawers and removed various items from the home. Officers were able to recover several fingerprints from items inside the residence. Both victims had been out of town during the burglary.

June 17, 12:40 a.m., W. 44th St. and Garfield Ave.
Officers responded to a report of a theft from motor vehicle in progress. Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the vehicle had been set on fire. The Fire Department arrived and extinguished the blaze. Several squad cars searched the area for the suspects but were unable to locate any.

Linden Hills
June 15, 5:46 p.m., Queen Ave. and William Berry Parkway
An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in a 25 mph zone. The officer flagged down the vehicle, approached and made contact with the driver, a 21-year-old man. While the suspect looked for his wallet, he opened up the vehicle’s ashtray to reveal a bag of suspected marijuana and a small glass pipe. The officer confiscated the narcotics and paraphernalia and issued the driver a citation.

Lowry Hill
June 6, 12:40 a.m., W. 22nd St. and Irving Ave.
Officers on patrol observed a vehicle traveling without its headlights on. Once the vehicle saw the squad car, the driver put the car in reverse and attempted to flee the scene. Officers were able to stop the vehicle and discovered the driver to be an 18-year-old man and that the vehicle had been stolen from a 25-year-old woman. Officers arrested the suspect and transported him to Hennepin County Jail.

Lowry Hill East
June 7, 1-9:30 a.m., 2700 block of Emerson Ave.
An unknown suspect(s) burglarized the residence of a 28-year-old man. The suspect(s) entered the residence through a rear window and removed the victim’s laptop computer and briefcase. Officers were unable to check for fingerprints as the victim had handled the window screen after the burglary.

+ June 9, 12:20 a.m., 2900 block of Bryant Ave.
Two unknown suspects robbed a 51-year-old man at gunpoint. The victim had been walking down the street when the two suspects approached, pointed handguns at him and then demanded his wallet. The victim complied and handed over his wallet but then one of the suspects removed the victim’s car keys from inside his pocket. Both suspects fled the scene on foot.

+ June 11, 1:15 a.m., W. 28th St. and Aldrich Ave.
Two unknown suspects robbed a 62-year-old man at gunpoint. The victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the robbery and states that he could identify the suspects.

Lyndale
June 6, 11:15-11:30 p.m., 3500 block of Pleasant Ave.
A 45-year-old man walked to his vehicle when an unknown number of suspects approached and said, "We are taking your car." The victim handed over the keys to the vehicle, and the suspects fled the scene.

June 14, 7:15 p.m., W. Lake St. and Blaisdell Ave.
Officers stopped a 25-year-old man for jaywalking. Upon searching the suspect, officers discovered a bag of suspected marijuana. After arresting and transporting the suspect to Hennepin County Jail, deputies also discovered suspected crack cocaine in the suspect’s pocket.

Stevens Square
June 9, 1:50 p.m., 1800 block of Stevens Ave.
An officer observed two people, one being a 45-year-old woman, passed out in a park. The officer approached and discovered a bottle of intoxicating liquor lying between the two suspects. Once awakened, the woman admitted that the bottle was hers and after the officer searched her, was found to also be in possession of a small amount of marijuana wrapped in a citation envelope. The female suspect needed to be taken to Special Care, as she was unable to take care of herself. The second unidentified suspect was released at the scene.

June 12, 9:40-10 p.m., E. 18th St. and Nicollet Ave.
An officer observed a 41-year-old man smoking inside a bus station shelter. The officer approached and discovered the suspect to be highly intoxicated and identified him as being on the Metro Transit trespass list. The suspect was taken to Hennepin County Jail where jail staff discovered a small bag of marijuana in the suspect’s sock.

June 14, 6-9 p.m., E. 17th St. and 3rd Ave.
An unknown suspect(s) stole the vehicle of a 19-year-old man. The victim had parked his vehicle on the street with the doors locked and, when he returned, discovered broken glass on the ground where the vehicle had been. Victim stated that he still has the keys and that no one had permission to take the vehicle. Victim also informed police that a drum set and guitar had been inside the vehicle at the time of the theft.

West Calhoun
+ June 15, 1 a.m., W. Lake St. and Thomas Ave.
A group of 10 unknown suspects allegedly robbed a 20-year-old man. One of the suspects threatened the victim with a baseball bat, but he did not receive any injuries during the robbery.

Whittier
June 6, 8 p.m., W. 29th St. and Blaisdell Ave.
Patrol officers observed a driver make a turn without using the vehicle’s turning signal. The officers pulled over the vehicle and, as they approached, could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside; upon closer view, they discovered a bag of marijuana in plain view. The driver, a 19-year-old man, was found to be in violation of a conditional release from jail and arrested for narcotics violations and transported to Hennepin County Jail.

June 7, 2:30 a.m., E. 27th St. and Nicollet Ave.
An unknown suspect allegedly robbed a 29-year-old man. The victim flagged down officers on patrol and stated that he had just been robbed but had not been injured and did not need medical assistance.

+ June 11, 5:15 p.m., 2900 block of Pillsbury Ave.
Officers responded to a fight taking place with weapons involved. The victim, a 19-year-old man, had been hit once in the head with a baseball bat and needed to be transported via an ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center. A vehicle that possibly belonged to the unidentified suspect was towed to the Impound Lot.

+ June 11, 10:49 p.m., W. 22nd St. and Grand Ave.
Two unknown suspects robbed a 61-year-old man at gunpoint. The suspects approached the victim and threatened to shoot him, but no gun was ever displayed. Both suspects went through the victim’s pockets and removed various items before fleeing down an alley and entering a waiting blue sedan.

June 12, 6 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2500 block of Lyndale Ave.
A 24-year-old woman invited two unknown people into her apartment and, when it got late, invited the two to stay the night. The next morning, the victim discovered the two suspects gone and items from her residence missing.

+ June 15, 4:57 p.m., 2300 block of Pillsbury Ave.
Officers arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly assaulting another 21-year-old man with a knife. The victim did not need to seek medical assistance from the assault. Officers transported the suspect to Hennepin County Jail.

June 17, 3:50 a.m., W. Lake St. and Garfield Ave.
Police officers on patrol observed two people who appeared to be fighting. While searching one of the people, a 24-year-old man, the officers discovered a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in his possession. The suspect received a citation and was released at the scene.

Windom
June 7, 6:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m., 5800 block of Aldrich Ave.
An unknown suspect burglarized the residence of a 41-year-old woman. The suspect allegedly broke out a basement window to gain access to the house. Once inside, the suspect rummaged around in drawers and stole jewelry from a bedroom on the ground floor.
