King Bridge Partnership to hold ‘interactive bridge triathlon’ July 30

The King Bridge Partnership will host an "interactive bridge triathlon" as part of the Kingfield Festival Saturday, July 30 at Martin Luther King Park, 41st Street & Nicollet Avenue, 4:30-9 p.m.

The triathlon will engage kids and adults in drawing, playing and building to craft a design process for a new pedestrian bridge. The bridge will connect the RiverLake Greenway, a bikeway along 40th Street.

The King Bridge group is comprised of Kingfield Neighborhood Association and Bryant Neighborhood Organization representatives, who are redesigning the 40th Street pedestrian bridge over I-35W.

Triathlon activities include creating a bridge model, identifying bridge values through drawing and collage and to survey bridge types and building materials. The Metropolitan Design Center and Leonardo's Basement, 4301 Nicollet Ave., are helping with the event.
