School choice cards due Jan. 15

School choice cards for children entering preschool-8th grade in Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) are due Jan. 15.

Families may request their MPS enrollment preferences for their children. Among others, MPS has numerous community and magnet programs. More than 38,590 students attend 103 schools in the district. Average class size in MPS is 26 students for kindergarten-3rd-grade classes and 32 students for 4th- through 8th-grade rooms.

Anyone who hasn't turned in choices for high school yet (the deadline was Dec. 15) is encouraged to do so right away. A school choice website at www.mpls.k12.mn.us/schools_registration.html provides detailed information about each program.

Send your request cards to the Student Placement Center at 1250 Broadway Ave. W. For more information, contact the Student Placement Center at 668-1840 for English speakers or 668-3700 for non-English speakers. To learn more about Minneapolis Public Schools, visit www.mpls.k12.mn.us.
