Explore the city's oldest churches in free all-day historic tours on Sunday, Aug. 20 from 1-4 p.m. Visit each of four participating churches.
Locations include the Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Ave.; Basilica of St. Mary, 1600 Hennepin Ave.; St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 51 Oak Grove St.; and Hennepin Avenue United Methodist, 511 Groveland St. Tours are ongoing at every site.
Tour-guides will talk about the churches' building history, art, architecture and other fun facts. Informational pamphlets will be provided at each site. Each church is within walking distance from one another. Visitors may begin at any of the participating churches and explore them at their own pace.
The event has drawn a crowd of thousands in the past. A shuttle van will also be running among locations. For more information, call each church individually.
