MPS sending out applications for free and reduced lunches

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is sending families applications for free and reduced school meals this month. Families can expect to receive the pink mailings by July 24.

Applications should be returned to the Nutrition Center in the prepaid envelope enclosed with the form. Submissions will be accepted through the start of the school year on Sept. 5 (and beyond, for latecomers).

Applicants who're eligible for free or reduced meals (based on a household's income), will be counted as part of a school's compensatory education funding, for children in poverty.

Households earning up to $62,160 for eight people and a minimum of $18,130 for one person qualify for free or reduced meals. See a list of qualifying incomes at http://foodservice.mpls.k12.mn.us/Free_and_Reduced_Price_Meal_Eligibility.html.
