Violent crimes and property crimes have increased in the 5th Precinct when compared to last year, according to a recently released Minneapolis Police Department crime-rate chart that lists statistics from Jan. 1 to May 9.
The chart includes homicides, robberies, rapes, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies, auto thefts and arsons. All of the categories of serious crimes have increased in the 5th Precinct.
The precinct has had three homicides this year, 28 rapes, 120 aggravated assaults, 188 robberies, 402 burglaries, 962 larcenies, 227 auto thefts and 12 arsons.
Last year, the precinct had two homicides, 13 rapes, 75 aggravated assaults, 157 robberies, 350 burglaries, 877 larcenies, 195 auto thefts and 5 arsons by May.
