Lake Harriet Community School was among 21 statewide receiving awards of excellence by U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton.
Dayton visited Lake Harriet's Upper Campus at 4912 Vincent Ave. S. on Jan. 13 to deliver the certificate and recognize the school's achievement. He created the award this year to recognize high-achieving schools, and for two years Lake Harriet has been among the best in the state for test scores.
Minneapolis Public School Superintendent Thandiwe Peebles, Area Superintendent Craig Hintz and State Rep. Frank Hornstein also attended the event.
Awards will be presented throughout the year. Parents, teachers and school officials who would like to nominate programs or individuals are encouraged to contact Dayton's area office by calling 727-5220.
