Ward 3: Diane Hofstede, DFL, representing Downtown's Nicollet Island/East Bank and neighborhoods in Northeast. First term; financial advisor and Library Board veteran.
Ward 4: Barbara Johnson, DFL and Council president, representing the city's northwestern corner. First elected in 1997; registered nurse and former member of the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Commission.
Ward 5: Don Samuels, DFL, representing neighborhoods on the North side. First elected in 2001; former toy company executive and longtime community activist.
Ward 6: Robert Lilligren, DFL and Council vice president, representing neighborhoods in Southwest and South. First elected in 2001; former legal assistant and business owner.
Ward 7: Lisa Goodman, DFL, representing Downtown and neighborhoods in Southwest. First elected in 1997; former executive director of Minnesota NARAL.
Ward 8: Elizabeth Glidden, DFL, representing Southwest's Kingfield neighborhood and communities in South Minneapolis. First term; partner in the law firm Hedin Goldberg & Glidden.
Ward 9: Gary Schiff, DFL, representing neighborhoods along the Hiawatha light-rail transit corridor. First elected in 2001; serves on the Lake Street Council and the Twin Cities Family Housing Fund, president of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Housing Finance Board.
Ward 10: Ralph Remington, DFL, representing Southwest neighborhoods, including Uptown. First term; former director of several nonprofits.
Ward 11: Scott Benson, DFL, representing Southwest's Tangletown and Windom neighborhoods and South Minneapolis communities. First elected 2001; partner at Minneapolis law firm Briol & Associates.
Ward 12: Sandy Colvin Roy, DFL, representing the city's southeastern corner. First elected in 1997; former staff member of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, District 1.
Ward 13: Betsy Hodges, DFL, representing Southwest neighborhoods. First term; former aide to Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman.
