The Hennepin County Board seeks volunteers for openings on 11 advisory boards, including the Minneapolis Planning Commission.
The openings include:
– City Planning Commission: The 10-member Commission prepares the city's comprehensive plan for future development and improvements, and acts on individual developer's requests for variances, conditional-use permits and site-plan reviews. The Commission includes one county appointee. It meets twice a month on Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. Members serve two-year terms.
– Community Advisory Board on Homelessness: This 23-member board advises the County Board and the Minneapolis City Council on emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, outreach, support services and more. There are six vacancies. Members serve two-year terms.
– Capital Budgeting Task Force: This 11-member task force reviews the county's capital budget and recommends an annual capital budget and a five-year capital program to the County Board. There are two vacancies. The task force meets 12 times a year. Members serve four-year terms.
– Children's Mental Health Advisory Council: This seven-member Council makes recommendations about the children's mental health system to the County Board. There are two vacancies. Members serve three-year terms and meet monthly.
The application deadline is Dec. 31. Candidates will be interviewed in January.
