A “creativity conversation” featuring Southwest author Kate DiCamillio will take place at Barton School, 4237 Colfax Ave. S. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 7-8:30 p.m. DiCamillo and Steve Jevning, founder of the children's workshop Leonardo's Basement, 4301 Nicollet Ave., will talk about children's creativity and learning styles.
Jevning said he and DiCamillio would discuss how to nurture children's creativity and learning, as well as the “Progressive Education” philosophy. “You try to put kids first and meet their needs,”
The admission cost is $5, with proceeds going to the Leonardo's Basement scholarship fund. Reservations can be made up until the day of the event by calling Leonardo's Basement at 824-4394. The event is for adults only; childcare is available if arranged ahead of time.
