The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library are hosting a Library Board candidates forum at Linden Hills Library, 2900 W. 43rd St., on Thursday, Aug. 4, 6:30-8 p.m.
There are 19 candidates running for six citywide seats on the eight-member Board of Trustees. The Mayor and City Council appoint the two additional trustees. All trustees serve four-year terms. The new board will oversee the opening of downtown's New Central Library, the construction of its planetarium and grapple with currently constricted operating hours for neighborhood libraries.
Forums are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
