CARAG sign contest will determine new neighborhood logo

The CARAG board has voted to hold a contest to design a new neighborhood sign. The winner gets $100 and their sign design will be displayed throughout the neighborhood.

The CARAG neighborhood's Space, Park, Arts, Culture and Education committee has been working since 2004 on a new design. The board voted down a new design in May, one of three forwarded by the committee.

Resident Phillip Qualy designed CARAG's current sign nearly three decades ago; it features a Canada goose named Ruthie, in honor of a bag lady who used to roam Uptown.

Contest entries are due by the end of August. For specifics, visit CARAG's office at 711 West Lake St., or call 823-2520.
