The Alliance for Sustainability is hosting a free workshop for city residents who want to improve the urban forest. The focus is on preventing the spread of Dutch elm disease.
The workshop is Tuesday, March 29, 7-9 p.m., Burroughs Elementary School, 1601 W. 50th St. Attendees will include tree care professionals, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board foresters and volunteers from neighborhoods that
have organized successful elm tree protection programs.
Discussion topics will include:
– Doing block or neighborhood elm inventories;
– Fund-raising ideas to pay for inoculation;
– Planting, watering and mulching new trees.
