The local citizens' group Southside Traffic Reduction Initiative to Determining our Environment (STRIDE) will host an 8th Ward City Council debate on Thursday, Feb. 17,
6 p.m.-7:45 p.m. at Hosmer Library, 347 E. 36th St.
The 8th Ward includes the Kingfield neighborhood between 36th and 42nd street and between Nicollet Avenue and I-35W. The debate is two weeks before the first step on the 2005 city election calendar, the March 1 DFL precinct caucuses.
STRIDE is opposed to the I-35W Access Project that could reconfigure ramps between 26th & 38th Streets and change Lake Street-area access. The group's invitation says candidates will be asked to discuss Lake Street's future, Bus Rapid Transit and the Access and Crosstown Reconstruction projects.
