Holiday crime-prevention tips

Fifth Precinct Crime-Prevention Specialist Jennifer Waisanen reminds residents to keep a watchful eye on their credit cards and money during the holiday season.

She recommends that shoppers carry only the cash they need for their shopping trip. Waisanen also suggests gifts be locked in the trunk of a car, not placed in the back seat. She said leaving gifts in a visible spot tempts thieves.

Waisanen also suggests residents make special arrangements for deliveries to their home, such as having a neighbor accept a package if the resident can't be there.
