Village Green looking at CIDNA development

Executives for the Detroit-based Village Green Co., responsible for the new Uptown City Apartment developments on Fremont and Aldrich avenues & Lake Street, are searching for another Minneapolis or St. Paul development site, perhaps in the Cedar-Isles-Dean neighborhood.

Doug Kress, aide to City Councilmember Lisa Goodman (7th Ward), said executives have met with a Cedar-Isles-Dean Neighborhood Association (CIDNA) representative and a local developer about a rental development along the Midtown Greenway near the Ackerberg Group building at 3033 Excelsior Blvd.

Village Green Chairman Jonathan Holtzman confirmed his group has met with developers and residents about a potential 2005 project but said there’s nothing to announce yet. He said they’re looking at many other sites in the Twin Cities for the project, too.

Holtzman said the company’s Minneapolis rental developments have been successful, and they would like to have one project in the Twin Cities per year. Village Green finished the Uptown City Apartment buildings this year and hopes to be picked as the housing developer for the Sears site project at Chicago & Lake streets in 2006. Holtzman said they want a 2005 project to fill the gap.
