The Sisterhood of Temple Israel, 2324 Emerson Ave. S., will host its 17th annual 2,000-family garage sale Sunday-Wednesday Aug. 1-4. The congregation's Sisterhood serves the secular and Jewish communities through various projects.
Items include clothing (some designer), jewelry, books, household items, electronics, toys and sporting goods, as well as antiques. The group will also host a silent auction, featuring unique collectables.
A preview sale -- with a $5 admission -- begins on Sunday, Aug. 1 from noon to 8 p.m. The regular sale begins Monday, Aug. 2 and runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tuesday's hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with half-priced items, $1 per bag books and 25 percent off designer clothing. Wednesday's hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; items will be $5 per bag and designer clothing will be half-price.
The family garage sale is the Sisterhood's largest fund-raiser, with proceeds going to help Temple Israel's programming, schools and classes, as well as cemetery and sanctuary improvements.
Proceeds also go towards other community organizations, including the nearby Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP), Cornerstone and Harriet Tubman women's shelters, Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Center and Planned Parenthood.
