Sections of the 4.5-mile regional trail from the Midtown Greenway to Hopkins will close the week of July 12 for sealcoating. The trail's operator, Three Rivers Park District (formerly Hennepin Parks) said in a statement that bike commuters would be particularly affected.
The district is unable to specify specific closing dates, but riders can check www.threeriversparkdistrict.org or call a 24-hour hotline at 763-559-6778.
The Midtown Greenway runs parallel to South 29th Street in Minneapolis, bending southwest past Lake Calhoun's western shore. There, it connects to the Hopkins South LRT corridor bike path. That path runs approximately parallel to Highway 7.
The district estimates that 200,000 people use the Midtown Greenway-Hopkins South connection.
