The Stevens Square Community Organization (SSCO) is looking for artists interested in participating in its third annual "Red Hot Art," a community arts festival scheduled for June 5-6 in Stevens Square Park at 201 E. 18th St. The event features local artists, musicians and food vendors.
The juried art show will have 50 participants, most from the Stevens Square area. It costs $15 to apply for the show. The artists chosen must pay a $30 fee to show and sell their work for the weekend. According to SSCO Executive Director Julie Filapek, the event is more than an arts and crafts fair — it is a fine art show for artists looking for a fun urban venue.
The event will also include food and live music from the different ethnic groups living in the Steven Square area.
The deadline for applying to the fair is Friday, April 9. For more information, call 871-7307 or see www.sscoweb.org/doc/RHAguidelines2004.htm.
