The Stevens Square Community Organization (SSCO) and the Plymouth Congregational Church Outreach Board (PCC) will hold a fund-raising event called the Early Bird Extravaganza on Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 4 at the Van Dusen Mansion, 1900 LaSalle Ave. The event is called "Early Bird" because it will be one of the first garage sales and silent auctions of the season.
The sale features a high-end merchandise, gift certificates to restaurants, stores and theaters, as well as antiques, original works of art, birdhouses and collectibles. A tour of the Van Dusen Center will also be offered.
According to SSCO Executive Director Julie Filapek, PCC has been very supportive of SSCO projects, but this is the first time the two groups have held a fund-raiser together.
The auction will take place on Saturday from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. The garage sale will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. All events are open to the general public.
SSCO and the PCC Outreach Board will use the proceeds to fund neighborhood livability projects, such as the block patrols.
