Several Southwest homes will be featured in the Twin Cities Parade of Ponds on Saturday and Sunday, July 26-July 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
More than 100 Twin Cities area water gardeners will open their backyards for the event. The self-guided tour features water gardens with colored lights, elegant plant life and waterfalls. Minnesota Water Garden Society volunteers will be available at ponds to answer questions and distribute literature on water gardening. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Children's Cancer Research Fund and the Minnesota Water Garden Society.
Tickets and booklets with directions to select ponds are available at Hedberg Landscape Supplies and Bachman's Garden Centers, and cost $15 a person. Children under 12 years old are admitted free of charge. Tickets can also be ordered over the phone by calling the Minnesota Water Garden Society at 803-7663.
