Four years ago Jennifer Thorpe, Christine Dietsche and another friend got together to make holiday gifts such as room sprays utilizing aromatherapy and essential oils. "Everybody said 'You guys should start your own business,'" Dietsche recalled.
Their friend ended up moving to Ely, Minn., but Dietsche and Thorpe founded Soul Tonic, an aromatherapy company specializing in hand soaps, shampoos and conditioners, room sprays, non-toxic cleaners and even dog shampoo and conditioner called Good Smelly Dog.
The women say it's especially important to use an all-natural cleaner rather than one with chemicals. "With the cleaner, we're really on a mission to get people away from using chemical cleaners because it's pretty scary what it's doing to our home environment as well as our environment outside," Dietsche said. "The one thing about our cleaner is that it's a great gift because you're giving someone a healthy alternative to using chemicals in their home."
