Original rock jewelry

Giovanna Fregni is a self-described rock enthusiast. She loves rocks enough to comb the earth with a mineral club looking for rocks. She, along with rock hounds Mark Abbott and Mary O'Rourke, has turned her passion into profit. O'Rourke and Fregni transform the stones they find into jewelry that they sell at Abbot's and O'Rourke's Gaviidae Common store, Mo'r Designs.

"The jewelry is an excuse to work with stones," Fregni said.

Fregni's jewelry comes from moonstones, garnets and even dinosaur bones, which she turns into pendants, rings, earrings, and bracelets. O'Rourke also uses a form of jewelry-making that takes two stones and melds them together, called intarsia.
