Richfield Lutheran Church, 8 W. 60th St., will celebrate their capital campaign which has raised $476,000, at an event Sunday, June 8.
The 10 a.m.-noon event will begin with a service and a gathering in their fellowship hall. A short program will feature the church's Bethlehem mission partner, Pastor Mitri Raheb. A lunch will be served; however, an RSVP is necessary for that.
Church member Kari Bliss said the money was raised over the past three years, in addition to money raised through annual pledges. She said for an urban church to raise that much money in tough economic times is a great success.
The money was used to replace the church's roof and gutters, install a new sound system and lights and also re-solder a stained glass window. Bliss said money left over would be used for remodeling the sanctuary and for other church needs.
